SHRI AVADHOOT MAHARAJ IN MALLIKARJUNA SWAMY TEMPLE

 The Devotees of sri Shaila Mallikarjuna Swamy were blessed to have in their midst Shri Avadhoot Sudhir Gandhi from Alandi.
Avadhoot is a disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and his singing is exactly similar to the great Singer.

Avdhoot Gandhi from Alandi, Maharashtra and his group performed an Abhanga, Bharud and a Gondhal. Compositions of Savata Mali, Bahina Bai and Eknath Maharaj embellished Avdhoot's powerful singing.
This was a performance in such soulful and melodious voice so I could not stop myself from singing along.

The "ALAK NIRANJAN" song got the audience swaying in their seat with his prowess on the Sambal (folk drums) and when they sang praises of Goddess Ambabai, every single devotee too joint in the Udho!
The Shankhnaad (blowing of the conch shell) elevated the pitch.

Bhagwan Adi Shankaracharya’s Jayanthi is observed on Vaisakha Shukla Panchami, that is the fifth day in the first half of Vaishaka Month.
Every year, the Swakula Sali Community & Sri Saila Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple celebrates the occassion in a unique way by conducting a Samoohika (Group) Parayana of the great and holy BHAGVAD GITA!!!.
Like wise, this year too the Gita parayana was held. A large number of devotees took part in the Akhanda Parayana of the holy Bhagvat Gita.
The parayana was concluded with Maha Mangalarthi and Prasad.
The Prasad was sponspored by Matrubai Khandappa and Brothers (grandsons of Matrubai Khandappa Nanjundappa).

Rama Navami in Nava Gudi

Hi,
As usual, the Rama Navami was celebrated with great fanfare in Sri Saila Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple on 12 April 2011.

Little Girls dressed as "Mother Kausalya" were swinging the jhoola of Baby Lord Ram.

The Prasad was sponspored by Sarode Babu and AshwathNarayana (children of Sharada Akka).
They have been doing this yoeman service for more than 50 years now.

Shata Rudrabhisheka in Mallikarjuna Temple

GOPAL KALA BHAJAN

The Gopal kala Bhajan conducted and celebrated in nava gudi  (Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple)

The day is more popular as 'GURU POORNIMA". 

On this day, Satyanarayana Pooja was also conducted. 

Colourful rangolis using "SALT" was used to decorate the temple. 

The festival was celebrated with great fervour. 

The Bhajan mandali broke the 'butter filled pots' with their 'TALA' and later went around the city barefoot. 

Enroute, they halted briefly at Samarath Ramdas Temple, where prasad was distributed (this is a biannual routine. This is repeated again in Karthik Poornima). 

The Prasad was sponsered by Srikhande Ashwath narayana's childrens, namely, Srikhande Shankar and Srikhande Narendra.

DINESH GUNDU RAO IN MALLIKARJUNA TEMPLE

The famous Mallikarjuna Temple, more popularly known as "nava gudi" continued to attract people from all corners of the city and even celebrities flocked to the temple to seek the blessings of the Lord. 

Congress Leader and Gandhinagar MLA Shri.Dinesh Gundu Rao visited the Mallikarjuna Temple to seek the blessings of the Lord Srisaila Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple.
His visit was preceded by the visit of the former Prime Minister Shri.H.D.Deve Gowda.
Shri.Dinesh Gundu Rao who is the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister the late Mr.R.Gundu Rao was very happy to see such a huge gathering.

 Shri.Dinesh Gundu Rao was honoured with a Shawl and Garland.
He was presented a photo of Sant Gyaneshwara Maharaj by the temple authorities. It was presented by H.B.P.Prabhakar Bhodle Maharaj.

DEVE GOWDA IN MALLIKARJUNA TEMPLE

The Mallikarjuna Temple, more popularly known as 'Nava Gudi' continues to attract celebrities from all over the country.
The latest to fall for the beauty of the temple and the attractive Bhajan was the former Prime Minister of India, H.D.DEVE GOWDA. Yes, he along with his son came to the temple on the Saptah day and recd the blessings of Lord Mallikarjuna.

Srikanth Matrubai explained the historical significance of the temple and requested the PM to listen to the melodious Abhangas being sung.
The Bhajan Mandali along with Marathi Abhangas also sang the Kannada song "jayathu Jayathu Vittala......." under the leadership of B.G.Nagaraj.
The Prime Minister was seen enjoying the song thoroughly.
He later took the blessings of H.B.P.Prabhakar Bhodle Maharaj of Damangaon, Pandharpur. Bhodle Maharaj invited Sri.Deve Gowda to Pandharpur.
Mr.Halubhai RamNarayan later was seen exchanging pleasantries with the PM.
